Closed Circuit Television (also referred to as IP Video Surveillance), is a modern video technology used in almost all aspects of modern life, from security and safety, to hospitals and schools, monitoring production processes, drones and driver-less cars.
This is a complex technology comprising of optics, cameras, displays, compression, networking, computing and storage media. With the ever evolving AI technology and smart video analytics, understanding the CCTV principles has become even more important. I am here to offer you enlightening courses to demystify and help you better understand these technologies.
These courses are based on my popular book 'CCTV - from light to pixels' and cover everything you would want to know and more. In addition to the material in the book, I have also included current topics on technologies, standards and products which became available after the book was published.
All video lectures are independent units and can be studied in any order of your choice, although I suggest you go in order of their listing, because the 'big picture' will become clearer. As the sub-title of the book suggests, 'from light to pixels' I have chosen the same flow of information: from the source of light, the object which reflects light and gets picked up by a camera lens, which is then projected onto a sensor, after which it gets read-out, processed, compressed, and transmitted via a media, to a recording and display of pixels. I will also add camera testing procedures, compliant with the latest standards, and I will demonstrate how to use the ViDi Labs calculation App tools, with exercises and examples.
You might choose to undergo an exam at the end of the lectures and ViDi Labs will grant you an autographed ViDi Labs Academy 'Certificate of CCTV Proficiency.'

Vlado Damjanovski is an internationally renowned CCTV expert, published author, trainer and App developer with over 37 years industry experience.
With an Honours degree in Electronic Engineering, Vlado authored the industry’s ‘CCTV bible’, CCTV - from light to pixels (4th ed), also available in Korean, Russian and German. The ViDi Labs Academy video lectures are based on these books.
Vlado has been producing industry specific test charts for over twenty-five years and offers a complete IP camera evaluation and measurement service compliant with the IEC standards. His recent work has been the development of software for automated camera analysis to suit the latest ViDi Labs test chart.
Furthermore, Vlado has developed unique App - ViDiLabs calculator - which is available for installers, integrators and consultants to assist in finding optimal camera settings (for iOS and Android).
Vlado has helped develop the Australian and New Zealand CCTV Standards (AS4806) in his capacity as chief contributor. He is currently a member of the IEC TC-79 group where he contributes towards the development of the international standards 62676 for IP CCTV.
